Depression Era Photos

I really love these kinds of photos. It might be because we grew up with a lot of books of photos like this in our house, I remember getting lost in the pages of these books, just looking at the people and wondering what their stories were, who they loved, where the dirt under their nails came from, what they saw when the lights turned off, etc.

I found a bunch of depression era photos on this site, shorpy.com and I highly recommend that you give their photo archive a few glances.

Crafting With Burlap

What should I do with the Burlap sack that I just got from work?  I found all of these ideas on Pinterest, but none of them are really speaking to me. I like the pillow for sure, but the piece of Burlap that I have has a design printed on it. I think that the re-upholstery of the furniture is lovely, so great, but I think that that kind of thing requires actual skill to make it look good. I like the simple sign for "Laundry". I could imagine a bunch of signs like that at a wedding or a party; "Dancing, Food, Photo-booth..." I think that my favorite is the headboard, that's amazing to me. If I had more burlap than I would probably do that, but alas I only have one sack. We shall see what happens, I will post pictures of what I decide to do.

Photos from around the house

Yesterday morning I woke up with the crafting fever. I was unstoppable. I made a bunch of things and everything turned out really well.
--Tape
--It's turtleneck weather here.
--That paper thing is like a paper snowflake but better
--Pinwheels are easy to make, who knew?
--Variation on the "paper thing" pictured earlier
--I put an eye patch on that cat and a sunset in the background
--Dinner table set for the dining
--Yarn Garland

Best Wedding Blogs

I AM NOT GETTING MARRIED (anytime soon), but I do love to look at photos of other people's weddings.

I am going to share 5 photos of beautiful wedding ideas:

And these are my 5 of my favorite wedding blogs:

Photos from around the house

--I have always thought that a cool photo project would be a bunch of black and white photos that were         of things that we associate strongly with certain colors (those flowers are really yellow).
--The porch is real nice this time of year.
--These days I cannot drink enough coffee.
--Big week for shows. Unfortunately Bird Man was canceled, but First Aid Kit rocked the house.
--I got that plaid skirt. It's from Pendleton. I love it. That skirt is vintage, but I found one like it here.
--It's amazing how lighting candles changes the mood so much.
--I love keeping flowers in the house.
--Handmade Napkins.
--So happy about something.

Craft on the Fly

Right before I left for summer camp I threw this piece together. I would like to say right now that I ripped this design off from a google image search.

In case you are confused this is a wall hanging made of beautiful rosettes that have been stitched together.

Secret Santa Gifts

Ah, the time for the Secret Santa gift is upon us. The idea of posting a "Secret" Santa gift online seems a little risky. But seeing as no one reads my blog, it probably doesn't matter...

Triangular Pennant

Though I had already made this so called pennant, it took several google searches to figure out the technical term for it. I was under the impression that this type of banner had a different, more specific name than "triangular banner". But several google searches yielded nothing... But finally I found what I was looking for. Pennant: Etymology: alteration of pendant
1 a : any of various nautical flags tapering usually to a point or swallowtail and used for identification or signaling b : a flag or banner longer in the fly than in the hoist; especially : one that tapers to a point. 2 : a flag emblematic of championship (as in a professional baseball league); also :the championship itself.
My pennant falls into both definitions. First it follows the specifics for the shape of a pennant. Secondly, it is an emblem of the victory that consumerism has achieved over the American people.
