Eggnog with Fresh Grated Nutmeg

I love making The Nog because it's simple and so freaking good.

Eggnog--Serves 4 (or 8, depending)

4 eggs
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of milk
pinch of salt
1 cup of brandy
1 cup of whiskey
1 cup of heavy whipping cream
enough nutmeg to garnish The Nog

mix the eggs, sugar, milk, salt, brandy, and whiskey together with a whisk. whip the cream until very stiff. fold the whipped cream into the egg mixture. chill and serve with grated nutmeg on top. enjoy!

I Love Christmas

Yesterday I got a Christmas tree. I had it bring it home on my bike, quite the adventure... I was getting some looks as I rode home. Some people seemed to think that I was crazy, while others seemed to have deep admiration for me. I feel that both were appropriate, I feel a little crazy, and a little admiration for myself.

I posted this photo to facebook this morning. I didn't really look at it before I posted it. But when I got off work there were like forty comments on it. I was like it's a good photo, but really? Turns out that you could see my sister's underwear. Sorry Sis. I have cropped it here, so that it is a little more PG.

We hold in our hands, goblets of Eggnog. Recipe coming soon!

Holiday Cards

Moriah and I had the best time getting our Holiday Cards printed this afternoon. I would post pictures of the card but I don't want to ruin the surprise in case you get on in the mail.

This is what happens when you go to Whole Foods:

I went to Whole Foods today and I picked up a few things. Maybe I got the most expensive things in the store, but I was shocked when I got the the register and it was forty bones. I was like "who slipped the diamonds into my basket?" The girl at the register did not think that was a funny joke and smiled a smile of "I'm smiling cause it's my job and I hate it". Thanks Whole Foods. Thanks.

Even though Whole Foods is so damn expensive, they do have some sweet compostable food containers. Though these are very ascetically pleasing I am not sure about their structural integrity. There was a thick layer of grease on the table after I scarfed down the contents of the container, gross.
And I couldn't really get the lid on, but that might not have been a fault of the container and more a problem with the amount that I was trying to put in it.

MCA

I have been doing a lot of highbrow things recently, first the opera, now the MCA, what's next? A limo, a membership to the country club, caviar on a yacht... I wish. Truth be told: MCA is free on Tuesday nights.

There were some cool things there especially the Andrew Bird exhibit, which included music recored by Andrew Bird at the MCA. It was really awesome, and made me think that there should always be music playing at Museums.

There were also some things that I would never consider art. Like a room which contained three cushions, a Bunsen Burner, and a 2x4. I would love to hear the artist of that piece tell me why that's art...

I Want Opera Glasses

Last weekend I went to the Opera. I was mostly excited to go because I wanted to get dressed up, but the three hours of yelling (Opera) turned out to be pretty cool too. Double Bonus. I never wear heels and you could tell, at one point I almost fell down the stairs and had to clutch the railing to steady myself. Also, the people sitting behind us were talking and whispering during the entire thing. I kept turning around and giving them looks of distain, but nothing would quell the idiotic banter.

When it Rains in Pours

Saturday morning is the best. Started with a little coffee and prank calling from bed. That was fun.

Then Bagel on Damen and a long--long walk.

Following the jaunt across town, a lot of popcorn and some vampire sex: Twilight. Haha. It was so funny. Zelma, band mate/new friend, and I were seized with fits of giggles. I think that we might have been offending people.

TBD

The other night we took some shots of the new band. I think that we are hoping that if we take pictures and talk about the band enough then it will really happen…  Fingers Crossed.

Thrift ing

Ya'll I went to the thrift store Yesterday and I found this amazing piece. I will let the pictures show you the magic:

Lesson Learned

Over the summer I decided that I wanted to have a sweet cartilage piercing on my left ear. I was up late one night with some friends and I decided that I was going to pierce it right then and there. This was not that crazy of an idea, I had done this before with great results. The tools were gathered: needle, alcohol (for sterilizing the needle), an apple, ice, and an earring. I don't really know how to pierce an ear, but I was very inspired by a scene in the Parent Trap where they pierce their own ears at camp.

The piercing went fine, great really. It didn't hurt at all, and the dudes that I was with were all impressed by my pain tolerance. But it hurts now, a lot. Like so much that I cannot sleep on that side of my head. The real problem here is that it looks really cool. I love having my cartilage pierced, but hurts. They say that beauty is painful, but how far should I take that. I would say that running (which I do for beauty) hurts as much as this hurts, but you wouldn't tell me to stop running. The title of this piece is called Lesson Learned, but I'm not sure that I have actually learned a lesson. I think that this is less of a lesson and more of the first steps on a journey towards figuring out how much I will sacrifice for beauty: personal comfort, a lot of money, etc.
